Dance, Lies, & Loyalty by Shane Sparks
What I’ve learned…
Everyone around you wants what you have and the closest person to you usually envies you more than they love you. The person you do the most for is usually the one who hurts you the most.
Be careful of the person always patting you on the back, or praising you all the time, it’s usually a way of distracting you from their real intentions.
Don’t get me wrong, not everyone around you is trying to hurt you, but 90% are.
People will ride your coattail until the ride ends and then they are off to the next.
They’ll forget about all the gifts, dinners, hotels, trips, cash, and unforgettable nights when the well runs dry.
It’s funny when all you wanted to do was make them happy and allow them to be a part of something they’d never have, if not for you sharing your success with them.
Don’t let a relationship, friend, or job dictate your future. If a person wants to see you succeed they’ll support everything you do. This isn’t just in the dance industry, this is in life…period.
Pay attention to negative people, they are the ones who will indirectly shoot all your ideas down just to keep you where you are, but the minute you include them; every idea you came up with is all the sudden genius!
Money…the root of all evil; nowadays a person can take the right picture, at the right time, of the right person, doing the wrong thing, and get paid. Money will make the most upright person do the lowest and degrading things.
Be careful of the things you do in front of people who have nothing to lose, or want to be just like you. Everyone has a camera phone waiting for you to make him or her rich.
